The general requirements to become an NAEMT instructor are:
1. Hold a current license or certification as an EMT or Paramedic. 2. Successfully complete the full NAEMT TECC provider course within past 18 months (refresher courses do not qualify). 3. Be affiliated with an authorized NAEMT Training Center. https://www.naemt.org/education/authorized-naemt-training-centers 4. Meet any additional instructor requirements determined by the training center. 7. Be monitored by an NAEMT Affiliate Faculty while teaching an initial classroom provider or refresher course (hybrid courses do not qualify). The Affiliate Faculty must then submit the Instructor Monitoring form to NAEMT.

The first step in becoming a PHTLS Instructor, is to obtain a provider card. The requirements for the instructor class is that your provider card must me within 18 months of the instructor class. If your provider card is older than 18 months, you will have to take another PHTLS class to get an updated provider card. This is a requirement of NAEMT and they will not approve Instructor Candidate status if your card is older than 18 months.
NAEMT education programs are conducted through a network of approved EMS training centers. NAEMT works with reputable EMS training centers which possess appropriate training facilities and experienced EMS faculty, maintain affiliation with an emergency medical institution, have a qualified medical director to provide medical oversight and guidance, and are committed to developing and sustaining a quality EMS training program at their center.
Course Description:
Who Should Enroll: license or certification as an EMT, Paramedic, MD, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant or Registered Nurse.
